Ratio
A comparison of two quantities showing how many times one contains the other.
A ratio expresses the relative size of two quantities, written as a:b or as a fraction. Ratios stay equivalent when both sides are multiplied or divided by the same number, which is how they are simplified or scaled. They describe mixtures, aspect ratios, odds, and financial relationships, and two equal ratios form a proportion.
Example: A 2:3 ratio of flour to water means 2 cups of flour for every 3 cups of water.
