Percentage
A number expressed as a fraction of 100.
A percentage expresses a number as a fraction of 100, written with the percent sign (%). To find a percentage of a value, multiply by the percentage as a decimal (20% → ×0.20). A percentage on its own can mislead because it hides the base it refers to — a 50% rise on $2 is tiny next to a 5% rise on $2,000. Percentage points (an absolute difference between two percentages) are distinct from a percent change.
