Least common multiple (LCM)

The smallest positive number that is a multiple of two or more integers.

The least common multiple (LCM) is the smallest positive integer that every one of the given numbers divides into evenly. It is the natural common denominator when adding fractions and is linked to the greatest common divisor by LCM(a, b) = (a × b) ÷ GCD(a, b).

Example: The LCM of 4 and 6 is 12, the smallest number both divide into.
